HISTORIC WALKING TOURS

Brownsville is a city with a rich history and the Brownsville Historical Association is thrilled to be your guide. In the fall and winter months, we offer an array of tours where you will explore historical sites and learn about the people that helped shape this community. Our tours are led by professors from the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley and other trained professionals.

EXHIBIT OPENINGS AND LECTURES

The vaults of Market Square house one of the largest South Texas photograph collections in the Rio Grande Valley, fine art, historical costumes, furniture, sculpture, and numerous historical documents. Throughout the year, we highlight select artifacts from the vaults for educational purposes.

HISTORICAL HAPPY HOUR

The Brownsville Historical Association hosts monthly happy hours at our museums, which are located throughout the Mitte Cultural District and downtown Brownsville. The Historical Happy Hours are a great way to explore the BHA’s museums after hours. We announce the theme and drink selections for each happy hour on our official Facebook page.
