The museum opened in 2002 and was reinterpreted in 2009 with hands-on interactive displays. The Heritage Museum also houses the La Tienda Gift Shop and the administrative offices of the Brownsville Historical Association. The Brownsville Heritage Museum hosts numerous presentations, musical performances, and book signings throughout the year.
