Facilities Maintenance Coordinator

The Facilities Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for janitorial service, maintenance and repair of all BHA museums and facilities. The Facilities Maintenance Coordinator will have overall responsibility for groundskeeping and landscape, maintenance and repair of all systems including electrical and plumbing and HVAC/mechanical. The coordinator also shares responsibility for all setups and takedowns for museum events and programs.


Responsibilities:

•    Ensure facilities and operations support and coordination for all museum programs, events, and exhibitions to enable the museum to deliver an outstanding visitor experience.

•    Oversee preventative facilities maintenance in aging historic facilities. 

•    Oversee event operations functions, including set up and break down.

•    Oversee the upkeep of the site’s landscaping in compliance with established standards.


Job Qualifications: 

•    Some basic experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, gardening and lawn maintenance. 

•    Knowledge of general maintenance and repairs.

•    Strong interpersonal skills.

•    Minimum five years’ experience working in building maintenance.

•    Bilingual -English/Spanish language knowledge required. 


Required:

•    Valid Driver’s License, clean driving record, and vehicle insurance. 

•    Must be 18 years or older.

•    High school diploma and completed trade/professional certification preferred.

•    Availability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

•    Ability to operate powered equipment such as mowers, chainsaws, electric clippers, and pruning shears. 

•    Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.

•    Ability to stoop and bend.

•    Ability to work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.

•    Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time including maneuvering up and down ladders and stairs.

•    Excellent communication, time management and organization skills.

•    Energy and enthusiasm.


This position requires strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and a general knowledge of repair and maintenance practices. The Maintenance Coordinator is primarily responsible for addressing daily work orders and must be a self-starter, able to collaborate with the staff and contractors to maintain the buildings and facilitate events.
